Claude vs ChatGPT: which artificial intelligence (AI) suits your business
On an annual plan the licences cost the same. The difference is what the AI does inside your own systems, and who sets it up. That is why we recommend Claude to businesses.

For work inside your own systems, we recommend Claude
For writing, summarising and answering questions, Claude and ChatGPT are on a par. Both have a plan for teams, and by default neither trains its models on business data.
The difference shows when the AI has to work inside the business: in shared folders, in Microsoft 365, in the accounts system. There Claude has tools we use every day on projects, listed below with their sources.
We work with Claude, so we are not a neutral observer. That is why every line names the vendor's page and the date we read it.
Six reasons, from Anthropic's own pages
Each reason is a feature Anthropic publishes for Claude Team. Beside it, what we do with it on projects.
- Cowork comes with every Claude Team licence (seat), standard and premium.
- It works in the folders and tools you choose and hands the work back for review.
- Scheduled tasks run on their own, even with the laptop closed.
- In November 2024 Anthropic published the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open standard that connects an AI assistant to business systems.
- For Xero, Sage or your own system we build the connection, an MCP server, with the permissions you set. Claude Pilot A includes one.
- Claude for Microsoft 365 and Claude for Outlook are included in Claude Team; your Microsoft licence stays your own.
- Claude works where your team already works, with no copying text between windows.
- Claude Team handles up to one million tokens of context, depending on the model.
- Contracts, tenders and board minutes are read whole, not in pieces.
- The administrator controls remote and local connectors.
- The company's skills reach the whole team at once, with single sign-on (SSO) and central billing.
- An AI agent on Claude can run on Amazon Bedrock in London (eu-west-2), in your own AWS account.
- We build it for the process whose data you want kept in the UK.
Where they are the same
On these points the choice changes nothing. Better to know that first.
- 01The licence: the same 15 GBP a person a month on an annual plan.
- 02Business data: no model training by default, on both business plans.
- 03The minimum: Claude Team and ChatGPT Business both start at two users.
- 04Access: single sign-on and central administration on both.
- 05Personal plans: on both, your chats can train the models unless you switch it off.
- 06Who makes them: two US companies, Anthropic for Claude and OpenAI for ChatGPT.
The licences, in pounds
Prices per person a month for the UK, read online on 20 October 2026. You pay the licences to the vendor, not to us.
- Cowork, Claude Code and Claude for Microsoft 365 included
- Premium seat: 75 GBP a month billed annually
- Premium seat: 75 GBP a month billed annually
- Amounts excluding VAT, as OpenAI states them
- ChatGPT Business: 10 × 15 GBP = 150 GBP a month
- The same total: the choice is about the work, not the price
All prices are in GBP and exclude VAT.

A whole task, on one Claude Team licence
This is how a seat works in Cowork. Rachel asks, Claude reads Xero and drafts the chasers in Outlook; she decides and sends.
Rebuilt from real projects, not a recording.
Where your data goes
It depends on how you use the AI: a licence for the team, an agent we build, or a personal plan.
- On Claude Team, Anthropic stores the data in the US; processing may also take place in Europe, Asia or Australia.
- ChatGPT Business is not on OpenAI's data residency list, which is for eligible Enterprise, Edu and API customers.
- Anthropic's data processing addendum is part of its commercial terms.
- Claude runs on Amazon Bedrock in London (eu-west-2), in your own AWS account; Claude Opus 5.5 is served in the region.
- The log of every action stays with you.
- On Claude Free, Pro and Max, as on ChatGPT's individual plans, your chats can train the models unless you switch it off.
- Company documents belong on the business plans.

From ChatGPT to Claude, one process at a time
You do not have to switch ChatGPT off on day one. Start with one process, measure the result, then decide.
The Workshop shows where Claude pays off, with the value and the cost of each process. Then Claude Team for the whole team with Pilot B, or a whole process handed to an AI agent in Pilot A.
You pay the Claude Team licences to Anthropic, separately. The final price of a pilot is in the written offer: it depends on the connectors, MCP servers and skills you need.
